Today we look at my favorite way to ask ChatGPT to summarize content and generate ideas. This is the real power of tools like ChatGPT. Linguix makes this process extremely efficient.

Here is my summary prompt:
[Summarize text.

State main thesis/theme: first.

*use bullet points in response

Provide relevent anecdote or story to illustrate point.

Avoid unneccesary info.

write at 5th grade level.

reply 'ok' only and I will paste info.]
I will update this if I modify it. ChatGPT is updated every few weeks and I have found the need to modify and update prompts is often necessary to get consistent results.

I elevate the ChatGPT Experience with the use of Linguix shortcuts. Linguix is currently available as a 1-year deal for $49 annually via appsumo. I was fortunate enough to pick it up when it was a lifetime deal. I will say that it is a part of my daily routine having replaced the free version of Grammarly that I used prior to that.

Let’s put to words what I talk about in this video here:

Taking Your Chat GPT Experience to the Next Level with Shortcuts

If you are familiar with Chat GPT, then you know that it can be a powerful tool for answering questions, summarizing content, and creating text. The problem? Consistency and having to retype the same prompts over and over again.

This is fixed by fine-tuning prompt examples to generate similar ouputs each time and then storing those inside a tool like Linguix where we can easily populate the prompt using a short cut. Before figuring out this system inside of Linguix, I was copying and pasting over from notion documents. This is free (if you don’t have linguix) and definitely better than typing it each time, but shortcuts are the better way.

Summarizing a Dan Koe Article with Chat GPT

To show the power of this quick way, let's use a Dan Koe article and use our quick guide to create a thesis, key points, and anecdotes.
All I have to do is // and then type in my shortcut code “SUM” and it auto populates the summary prompt.
[Summarize text.

I submit this prompt to ChatGPT to prime it before pasting in the text. You can do both, but doing it this way I can quickly prime ChatGPT almost instantly with the shortcut, giving it some context of what I expect. If for some reason it doesn’t say “ok” I know it may not have fully grasped what I am looking for and I re-engage with it to ensure it knows what I want.

As Chat GPT types out the summary, we'll see that Dan shares a personal experience where he faced mental turmoil and struggled with negative thoughts. From this summary, we can ask questions that intrigue us the most and avoid wasting time reading through copious amounts of data.

We'll see that Dan shares three deeply personal things: being arrested for possession, going to Costa Rica and breaking things off, and financially destroying himself to make his e-commerce business work.

Using the summary-based process, we can probe content, ask more questions, and generate ideas for tweets or new content. It has now been primed to not only summarize our tool, but also engage with us as it has “read” the article.

The Power of Borrowing Ideas

One of the principles that Dan Koe and other successful creators teach is the power of borrowing ideas. By consuming content, taking things in, and looking at words, you can brainstorm new ideas for your own content. I find my prompt summary is fantastic for doing this, allowing me to consume content faster and generate ideas for future recall. I can use these summaries as a foundation for further exploration.

Conclusion

In conclusion, using shortcuts with Chat GPT and Linguix can take your experience to the next level. By using custom shortcuts for summarizing content, I save time and generate new ideas with ease.
